Make a floor layout. People will require a place to sit while the ceremony is taking place. Position the nominees so that they may easily go up and collect their prize. Position the winners near the stage. You may build a floor plan for your ceremony using a service like PerfectTablePlan.
It's best if you are able to see the faces of those you honor as this will help you with your planning process. If you want to include more people than just the three nominees or winners, then add more rows to each table. You can also change the number of tables used at the ceremony by adding or removing rows from each table.
As you make changes to your floor plan you may need to also update information about where prizes will be given out, how long the ceremony will take, etc. It's important to have all this information before you start building tables so that you don't end up with gaps in time where guests are standing around waiting for something to happen or areas of the room that look empty.
Once you have completed your floor plan you should post it online for everyone to see. This will allow others to offer advice on how to improve your plan or suggest alternatives if you have missed something out. You could even post photos of tables that you make using your plan as a guide.
The most important thing when creating your floor plan is to have fun!

How to Preside Over an Awards Ceremony
Creating a checklist for an award ceremony may be a time-consuming effort. If you want your event to be a success, you must prepare ahead of time. The first step in arranging any type of event is to outline your goals and objectives. They should be SMART objectives. (See definition below.) After you have established what you want the outcome of your event to be, it will be easier to plan how to get there.
SMART objectives are specific, measurable, attainable/achievable, relevant/necessary, and time-bound. These qualities are essential in order for an event to be successful. Without these qualities, your event will not reach its full potential. It is helpful to write down your objectives so that you do not forget about them during the planning process. You should also review this list periodically to make sure that it still reflects the purpose of your event.
There are several ways to go about creating a checklist for your event. One method is to start with the end in mind. What does your award ceremony need from you and others before it takes place? Consider the following questions as you think through this process: Who will I be awarding? Why are they important to my company? How will I recognize them? What types of awards are available? Will each recipient receive an award? If so, how many awards will be given out?
