The duration of these programs varies from one to two years.
Advanced Computer Science (ACS) is a two-year program that combines coursework in computer science with practical application in various domains using computers. CDAC was established in 2009 under the administrative control of DRDO. Before this, computer science research and development activities were carried out by several private companies under contract to DRDO. The main aim of setting up CDAC is to conduct advanced research in computing fields and develop technology products that can be used by the armed forces.
CDAC is involved in developing hardware and software products for use by the Indian Armed Forces. It has developed a wide range of military communication equipment including mobile phones, satellite terminals, radar systems, and electronic warfare devices. It has also worked on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) such as the Tejas light combat aircraft and the Akula class submarine-launched cruise missile.
CDAC has also worked on improving the efficiency of tanks through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling and simulation. In addition, it has conducted research into autonomous driving technologies for use on land and water. Finally, CDAC has worked on improving the accuracy of artillery guns using computer vision techniques.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES EXAMINATION (CDS 1 & CDS 2) twice a year. CDS is a written examination that must be passed before proceeding to the SSB interview. You can apply for your SSB directly, and NCC students can also apply for the CDS exam. However, it is mandatory for them to clear the CDS first.
CDS is conducted in two stages: CDS-1 and CDS-2. The selection process consists of both written and personal interviews. Only those candidates who qualify both the stages will be called for the next step - the SSB interview.
In CDS-1, only objective type questions are asked from you. These include questions on general knowledge, aptitude tests, etc. There is no negative marking for any incorrect answer, but you will not be able to proceed to the next stage if you fail this test. This stage usually takes about three hours to complete. Those who qualify this stage go on to the next one which is the SSB interview. This stage is an oral test which includes questions on character, intelligence, and mental ability. The interview panel will ask you questions on topics like defence production, operations research, finance, etc. They will also gauge your communication skills by asking you to give presentations before the panel. This stage will take about four hours to complete. Those who qualify this stage will be called for the next round - the declaration of results.

The National Trade Certificate Foundation (NTC F) course is a foundation level vocational programme of study designed for early school leavers in Mauritius who did not complete primary school and earn the Certificate of Primary Education to continue their education and eventually join the vocational stream of study. The NTC F course consists of five modules, which have to be successfully completed within 18 months.
Early school leavers can apply for the NTC F course after they turn 17 years old. They must fulfill some criteria to be considered for this course. These include having not completed primary school, having not attained the age of completion of primary school, being incapable of learning through normal means because of a physical or mental disability, and having financial resources that would allow for the payment of fees required for the application process and for studying at the University.
Those who are accepted into the course will need to pay a registration fee of US$500 along with a service charge of US$20 per hour as well as other charges such as laboratory tests, etc.
After completing the course, candidates must sit for two examinations: one at the end of the first semester and another at the end of the second semester. Successful candidates are awarded a National Trade Certificate F which is valid for three years.
They can then apply for a Professional Certificate by passing an additional exam at the end of the third year.
